Fake anti-malarial pills
Malaria kills 2,000 children per day in Africa and the worrying news is that fake anti-malarial pills, specifically the new class of drug known as artesunates, have found their way into Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chad. Fake artesunates have been detected in Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chad.

Fake computer products
In a recent article for the East African, a major regional distributor claimed that 80% of computer products in the East Africa region are fake, with HP products being the most affected.

Fake cosmetic products
A March 2008 article by IPP Media – Guardian, Tanzania, revealed the danger of fake cosmetics that had been discovered in Dar es Salaam. These products were home-brewed concoctions that had been re-packaged to look like the genuine article and found to contain products that can potentially cause skin cancer, thinning of the skin and a neurotoxic effect.
